ETHSafari: Blocktrain Season Is Back

Its that season for web3 events. ByBit, Cello, Eth Safari.. Eth Safari? Yes. Eth Safari.  ETHSafari. East Africa’s most important block chain conference is back. I’m talking baobab stages, late-night side-events that blur into early mornings, hope, connection, let’s rewind.

ETHSafari’s journey has been a ride worth tracking. The first edition in 2022 (Sept 18–24) set the tone: Nairobi side events, the iconic Blocktrain cutting through Tsavo, and a festival under three baobab stages with themes ranging from DeFi and gaming to regulation and diversityBy 2024, ETHSafari had matured—running from Sept 8–15 with a Nairobi hackathon, the Blocktrain on the 11th, and a Kilifi festival that Cointelegraph described as “bringing the crypto world to Africa and Africa to the crypto world.” This week, the focus is clear: workshops, startup showcases, and protocol booths, with the community reminding itself on X that this isn’t just another event. It’s the ecosystem showing up IRL.

This week at ETHSafari 2025 (Sept 7–14), the flow is split between Nairobi and Kilifi—starting with workshops and mixers in the city before shifting to talks, showcases, and culture by the coast. The focus areas on stage and in side-events include L2s, account abstraction, wallet UX, stablecoin rails, and public-goods booths. And guiding it all is the community’s North Star: not simply to “solve Africa’s problems,” but to create Africa’s innovations.

Eth Safari Day 1 Walk at Aboretum

ETHSafari has matured from a “crypto camp” to one of the most distinctive Web3 gatherings on the map.
If you’re building in Africa, Eth Safari is asking, can your ideas survive the train ride, the baobab stage, and the conversations that spill past midnight?
At Blockwisely, our stance is simple: don’t just attend—ship something. And maybe we will be talking about you too next. Thanks for reading. I’ve got a train to catch.
