MetaEarth Nairobi Office Launch: Identity, Incentives, and Community

4PM, Friday 23rd January 2006.The room filled steadily. Conversations overlapped as familiar and new faces from Nairobi’s Web3 scene greeted each other – builders, early adopters, and the quietly curious.

The launch of the MetaEarth Nairobi office at Stellato Mall, 5th Floor, Westlands, was less about ceremony and more about conversation.

Meta Earth is building the ME Network – a modular blockchain for scalable Web3 apps and a decentralized global UBI (Universal Basic Income). As AI and automation reshape work, Meta Earth is laying the foundation for a fairer, self-sustaining digital economy.

In simpler terms, Meta Earth aims to create a global society “Where Every one can Earn,” making the World a better place in the process

At the center of its design is ME-ID, a native KYC-enabled decentralized identity (DID) system built for an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.

Although founder Patrick Oerer was not present, his vision framed much of the discussion. Speakers emphasized MetaEarth’s guiding principle: building systems where participation is rewarded and access is broad.

The focus remained on people, not protocols creating ways for everyday users to engage meaningfully.

Allan Mbusia – MetaEarth Kenya lead

A central theme was earning through engagement, not speculation. The MEC token, still on testnet, is earned through activity within the ecosystem. Registration, identity verification, daily check-ins, referrals, staking, and participation in builder initiatives all form part of the earning model.

As articulated by MetaEarth Kenya team members Allan Mbusia and Emmanuel Otieno, community involvement is key.

Community member Cleophas Obuya shared his onboarding experience: “You earn MEC through Registration ,invites, daily check-ins, referrals, and staking. Even though it’s still on testnet, there are many ways to participate already.”

The Builder Program drew visible interest. Participants receive unique referral codes to onboard others, earning MEC tokens, weekly rewards, and surprise bonuses. For Kenyan Web3 enthusiasts, the program offers a chance to learn, contribute, and earn, with some pathways rewarding MEC or USDT.

Yasin Arafat – Global Marketing lead

MetaEarth’s global ambitions were also outlined. Operating from headquarters in Dubai, the project has opened offices in Ethiopia and Nigeria, with Tanzania next on the list. The broader plan aims for up to 200 offices globally. As Yasin Arafat, head of global market development, noted: “MetaEarth is a project for everyone – building offices for everyone, everywhere.”

As the evening closed, what remained was not a single announcement, but a reflection of Nairobi’s growing importance as a hub for global Web3 projects.

The MetaEarth Nairobi office launch is a step to bring distant protocols to local, physical spaces where communities can gather, exchange ideas, network, and build.

As we all know: “A project cannot be successful by itself, it needs people.” – Yasin Arafat
